【嘉宾介绍】Frans De Laet started his T & I career some three decades ago as a teacher at ISTI, the Graduate School for Translators and Interpreters in Brussels (Belgium). Early in the 1990s, he was invited to train linguists at the Council of Ministers of the European Union. In 2000, he was elected Dean of ISTI Brussels and participates actively in the redesign of the T & I curricula within the European Bologna Process. From 2003 until 2006, he served as Secretary General of CIUTI, the renowned academic association of T & I institutions. He then left Belgium for Taiwan. He taught at Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages in Kaohsiung and founded the Graduate Institute of Multilingual Translation and Interpreting (GIMTI). In 2010, he joined Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). From 2008 until 2011, he was Secretary General of FIT, the International Federation of Translators. He was a lecturer for the annual Trainers to Trainers Program organized by the Translators Association of China. He speaks at numerous academic conferences and publishes papers on T & I history and teaching in high-quality journals. Today, he is associate editor of BABEL, International Journal of Translation, published by John Benjamins Publishing Company for FIT.
